About three years ago willing to know what is really
net label
? how it looks like? how can I get net album (as it was explained "release")? one of the first touch to net label release - I mean full, carefull and 'fair' examination but not listening first 14 secs of each 3rd track - was exactly this band and this current release. I must say it was (and still is) very pleasant. Even if it wasn't electronic music or its subdirection when internet has about 96% is pure electronic netlabels, music was like first breath after cold winter's 'coma' in coming green spring. I was realize that freely downloaded music can be enjoyed like first birds singing, buds bursting, heat coming and cats meowing ;)
Website of this net label
was able to catch my eye with brief and simple design like my grandma's slippers and original structure where is not possible to get lost. All necessary stuff for visitors are put on the piece of carton that opens in totally separate independent web browser's window giving indeed 'piece of carton' effect. Drawing and fixing with glue on carton nice flowers and kitties along with net label's name certainly not to betoken about industrial, dark ambient or big beats motives, but something happy... something for seeking souls.
Itself music is direct and reflective, autumnal and nervous in the same time. It is not beautiful and glossy like colourful magazine, but I must say - with BIG beautiful open heart. Themes are mainly from "Love actually is ..." trying to 'spew out' all positive/negative that collected during being into contact with love; it is the sound poetry without superfluous solo's & bridge's manipulations performed under standardized MTV template. Any experiments would be out of place here as well. Each of instruments not differs from other, but march/lockstep altogether leaving the voice to be leader.
In its turn, voice of song author (Tyler Whitney) is very real, impulsive and full of life, seems that not destroyed with any voice musical education - do, re, mi ... It can be explained with live recordings [maybe in different spaces and times] bringing image: kitchen - full of smoke, pan - with fried eggs on not very stable table, birds - listen the guitar through open window.
IMHO technical side of record is poor 'cause volume level differs in many tracks; 7th track seems starting with pushing PLAY button on old tape-recorder - sound level becomes much lower. If next 8th track would be with higher level I would think that it is effect not defect.
Overall release is great, could be reduced to 10 tracks but big plus - song lyrics added beside music. Listen and read!

Some recordings simply can't be mastered, i.e. passed through compression / limiting / frequenting algorithms... sometimes you discover that the original author sound is more acceptable than a mastered one. Basically, all composers would say you that :-) This seems to be a similar case. I've listened to the whole album, and it appears the band has collected tracks recorded live, and studio, and in home apartments... they simply can't be adjusted in one album "correctly"; however they definitely give a feeling of a very LIVE dynamic recording.
The genre is specific however, I would say post-rockers and shoegazers will like it at most, and there is also too many too obvious lyrics; I'm not really big fan of such stuff myself.
