Recently we have discovered that in the Internet and technologies era, not everybody knows what FTP means and how to eat it. It seems a lot of people are opposed to web upload programs, which for your knowledge are not ideal if we talk really LARGE amount of data, like WAV files for example, which we request from our musicians to do a bit more professional mastering work.

FTP stands exactly for File Transfer Protocol. Read on Wikipedia for more.

FTP may be public of various access, when everybody can upload and download files, or only selected people having private accounts are allowed to do this. On INQB8R, we have a very private FTP which can only be used by our artists in pre-production studies. We supply login and password of it with the condition not to disclosure it to 3rd parties, since artists themselves shall be highly interested in it.

For accessing FTP using these login and password, you will need kind of FTP Client software. There are tons of such kind of software around, free, shareware and premium. For Windows, we recommend to install Total Commander program, a great shareware which works basically forever and just lets you click on the button when it loads. Comparing to benefits it brings, it's nothing.

Download and install the program, following instructions on the screen. When it's launched and shows two file browser panels, press Ctrl+F or under Menu, Net -> FTP Connect. Then press the New Connection button. For session name, write any kind of word you think of right now, for the Host, type our host information, as well as the same for User name and Password. People who are behind the firewall, most likely will need to check the box saying Use passive mode for transfers (like a WWW browser). Then click OK saving the Session, and then Connect button.

You will see some connection info, and then if everything is all right, under one of the Total Commander panels, you should see something like 0:\ and the listing of our FTP folder, where you will probably find the folder named by your moniker. Click this folder twice and open it.

It means you are connected directly to our server's disk, and now can start uploading your files. Under other file panel, locate the disk on your computer, where the files are stored. Browse the folders, mouse-clicking twice them, and locate your files under some folder. To select a file, point the cursor to it and click "Insert" button on your keyboard. Or to select all files, click "*" button on your keyboard's Numbers pad.

To start transferring, press "F5" on your keyboard. Total Commander should show where it will copy the files, accept everything by clicking OK.

It's not always possible to resume large uploads, so we recommend to split the files some way, using RAR program for example; or other kind of splitter tool. This will please if the connection breaks for some reason, and you need to start over. That way you need to start from the file which was not uploaded recently. We hope this will happen rarely, because we run the project on a good and quite stable connection.

To refresh the FTP (sometimes data may be cached, and you won't see the newly uploaded files), click Ctrl+R on your keyboard.

After you are done, click Disconnect button under FTP panel, and email us :-)

If you will choose other kind of FTP client, for different OS other than Windows, it should work basically the same way: you add our connection, then connect to your folder on FTP server, and just upload your files there.

It seems like programmer's trick to upload a lot of data just in one click, without sitting and looking in your browser while it uploads. And it looks like you are directly uploading files to us :-) No 3rd parties are involved.

Welcome to the Matrix.
